We partner with universities to manage their departments, facilities, finances, and deliver exceptional customer service. Since 1998, CENTERS remains the first and only mission centric organization committed to student development and departmental excellence on behalf of its clients. CENTERS is currently operating university campus recreation centers at ten site locations within the United States. Responsibilities The Assistant Director of Programs and Marketing is responsible for leading the fitness, wellness, and adventure recreation programming and staffing. The position is also responsible for leading the department of Charger Rec's marketing efforts. The position will implement CENTERS standards and systems for program operations and employee development, advance CENTERS programming, and will be invited to participate in CENTERS innovation. Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage a comprehensive Fitness and Wellness program to include: Group Fitness Classes, Wellness Programs/Initiatives, Personal Training, and Special Events
  • Develop and offer Adventure Recreation Trips
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and mentor student and part-time staff in areas of responsibility
  • Manage Charger Rec's marketing, advertising, and outreach operations. Develop and execute Charger Rec's annual marketing plan
  • Uphold brand standards, mange facility marketing systems (digital advertising and radio commercials), Charger Rec's digital presence (social media, website, etc.), and develop promotional collateral
  • Assist in managing all fitness equipment procurement and inventory depreciation schedules Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for the operating, preparation, forecasting, and monitoring of income and expense budgets for areas of responsibility
    • Develop and revise administrative policies and procedures within the areas of responsibility
    • Assess effectiveness and satisfaction of programs, services, and facilities
    • Prepare regular written communication such as monthly and annual reports, financial and participation reports, and equipment inventory reports as needed
    • Create, encourage, and support professional development opportunities for staff, including professional association involvement, training programs, and individual mentoring
    • Build strong partnerships on campus and with vendors
    • Provide direction and oversight following the mission and goals of the department, division, and university
    • Complete comprehensive analytical and statistical reports regarding fitness and wellness patron participation
    • Ensure staff compliance with required certifications Site-Specific Responsibilities:
      • Collaborate with other campus departments to develop and implement -programs
      • Serve as faculty/staff advisor to UNH student organization(s) related to program areas
      • Instruct programs on behalf of Charger Rec Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
        • Bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of work experience required; Master's preferred
        • At least two years of programming experience preferred
        • Experience working in a collegiate/community recreation environment, strong communication and presentation skills
        • Demonstrated experience within health and wellness -
        • Knowledge of standard practices and demonstrated experience in recreational sports
        • Leadership and supervisory abilities
        • Ability to work as part of, and lead a team that collaborates effectively with colleagues
        • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm
        • Analytical skills to: identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent, logical decisions
        • Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyle choices
        • Current accredited group fitness instructor certification and/or personal training certification (or willing to obtain)
        • Current Wilderness First Aid equivalent or higher preferred (or willing to obtain)
        • Demonstrated technical skills and/or instruction in rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, canoing, or other outdoor recreation activity areas preferred Competencies: Technical Competencies
          • Some knowledge of HR theories and best practices in recruitment and staff development
          • Basic accounting knowledge; capability of understanding budgets
          • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional Competencies
