Ultrasound Technologist with Breast Experience REQUIRED Technical
Skills: o Proficient in Breast Ultrasound Techniques: This includes
performing routine and complex breast ultrasound examinations,
utilizing various transducer types and frequencies, and applying
appropriate scanning protocols for different breast tissues and
patient presentations (e.g., dense breasts, implants, masses,
etc.). They must be skilled in Doppler techniques to assess
vascularity. o Image Acquisition and Optimization: Producing
high-quality diagnostic images is crucial. This involves adjusting
settings like gain, depth, focus, and time-gain compensation (TGC)
to optimize image clarity and detail. They need to understand
artifacts and how to minimize them. o Knowledge of Breast Anatomy
and Pathology: A deep understanding of normal breast anatomy,
variations, and potential pathologies is essential for accurate
image interpretation and identification of suspicious findings. o
Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Competence in operating and
maintaining ultrasound equipment, including transducers, consoles,
and printers, is necessary. This also includes troubleshooting
minor technical issues. o Image Archiving and Retrieval (PACS):
Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
for storing, retrieving, and transmitting images is essential for
efficient workflow and collaboration with radiologists. o Breast
Interventions: Assisting physicians with ultrasound-guided breast
biopsies, aspirations, and other interventional procedures,
including providing appropriate patient care and ensuring sterile
technique. o Quality Control and Assurance: Participating in
quality control and assurance programs to maintain image quality
and equipment performance. Essential Job Functions:/n-Performs
procedures according to departmental format, completing exam in
allotted time./n-Performs required daily clerical duties, which
include the use EPIC, Tele tracking System, computer system,
patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by Medical
Center./n-Performs portable ultrasound exams./n-Performs a variety
of complex technical tasks in Diagnostic Ultrasound utilizing high
frequency sound waves to detect anatomical abnormalities including
masses, abscesses, and stones in accordance with prescribed
sonographic procedures. Assist physician with biopsy deep abdominal
studies and color-flow ultrasound as required./n-Determines,
prepares, and set up medical supplies, instruments, and
equipment./n-Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explain
procedures, measures and position patients for each anatomical
view./n-Evaluates technical quality of images. Obtains and process
images of pathogenic conditions in accordance with standard
procedures or techniques./n-Maintains records of ultrasound taken,
archiving and de-archiving data as required. Calculates, compiles,
and records data from numerical readings on patients charts and
related documents./n-Calibrates, cleans, and performs routine
maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning./n-Cleans and
sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment. Stocks and
replenish supplies as required./n-Provides technical assistance and
instruction to students, employees, and medical residents./n-Lifts
a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and
stands a minimum of 6 hours a day./n-Greets in/out patients when
they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T.
standards./n-Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays
and weekends./n-Overtime as needed to provide continual quality
patients care./n-On call assignments as needed per Department of
Radiology policy./n-Adheres to the policies of Employee ID,
Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality./n-Identifies
the needs of the patient population served and modifies and
delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture,
language, hearing and /or visually impaired, etc.). This process
includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary
caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational,
literacy, etc.)./n-Adheres to the standards identified in the
