Information: Days - 4 days x 10 hours Start Date: ASAP About the
Position Shift: Monday-Friday 07:00am-05:00pm Description: Under
the direction of the Nurse Manager or Registered Professional
Nurse, the Surgical Technologist – Outpatient handles the
instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during ambulatory
surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist - Outpatient
understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs
of the surgeons. The Surgical Technologist – Outpatient has the
necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care
during ambulatory operative procedures and is constantly vigilant
in maintaining sterile technique. Understands and adheres to
established Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
Performs nursing procedures as per policy. Checks supplies and
equipment prior to surgical procedures. Performs aseptic hand
scrub, sets up, counts, and assists intra-operatively. Maintains
the highest standard of sterile technique. Assists with
post-procedure care. Handles specimens appropriately. Prepares
instruments for decontamination by wiping down gross bioburden and
using enzymatic sprays at all times. Assists with preparing/picking
surgical cases. Follows policies and procedures for Infection
Control and Fire Code. Identifies malfunctioning equipment
appropriately. Follows patient safety standards. Responds
appropriately in emergency situations. Completes competency
requirements. Attends all mandatory education and in-services.
Utilizes cost containment practices. Completes 15 hours of
Continuing Education Credits as required by state law. Performs all
other related duties as assigned. Experience: Relevant experience
in surgical technology License: Current License in Surgical
Technology Certifications: Certification as Surgical Technologist
Must-Have: Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile technique
Requirements Required for Onboarding BLS Pharmacology Skills
